The latest data showed that US textile and apparel imports value in Mar 2022 increased sharply to 12.18 billion USD, up by 34.3% year-on-year. The imports volume reached 9.35 billion m2, up by 38.6% year-on-year. US apparel imports value in Mar 2022 rose to 9.29 billion USD, up by 43.1% year-on-year and the imports volume reached 3.11 billion m2, up by 24.6% year-on-year. This figure also set a record for US textile and apparel imports value in recent years.

The US textile and apparel imports volume from China in Mar 2022 increased to 2.84billion m2, down by 1.1% year-on-year. The imports value reached 2.66billion USD, up by 24.5% year-on-year. US apparel imports value from China in Mar 2022 rose to 0.9 billion USD, down by 5.1% year-on-year and the imports volume reached 1.73 billion m2, up by 39.6% year-on-year.

From the monthly data, the US textile and apparel imports from China saw a monthly fall, down 4.9% compared to Feb. From the comparison of the growth rate in recent years, we can also see that the growth rate of the imports from China has been slightly lower than the total imports growth rate since April 2021.

In addition, from the China's market share in US textile and apparel imports, since the fourth quarter of 2021, the proportion has shrunk from 32.4% to 21.8%, down 10.6 percentage points.
